Here we are then - the long awaited(!) and highly subjective "Perfect" guide to the Maserati model range, produced in response to the hundreds of aspiring Maserati owners who have emailed me over the years asking "what's the difference between a Mexico and a Mistral?" or, better still, "I'm thinking of buying a 3500 Spyder or a Shamal - which do you think is best?" - you know who you are!

Through the generosity and tolerance (you should see how I drive!) of friends around the world, I have been fortunate to drive examples of all the "classic" road cars (3500GT to Royale) except the 5000GT, just about every Biturbo variant and I am currently working my way through the more esoteric models and the racers. The driving and handling comments are as subjective as you may expect but they are, at least, based on experience. My own, regularly driven, Maserati collection includes a 2000 Quattroporte Evoluzione (V8), 1985 Biturbo 425, 1976 Khamsin, 1961 3500GT and a 450S replica.
