Maserati lineage

Have you ever wondered where your Maserati fits into the family tree? What models had gone before and led to its design? What subsequent models might it have influenced?

I certainly have. Yet many of the books on Maseratis fail to answer this question in a simple or easily understood manner. I therefore present for your delight and delectation the graphical lineage of the marque Maserati. The charts below present the period of manufacture of every significant Maserati model since the foundation of the company in the form of a time line which allows the relationship between models in time to be seen as well as clearly revealing which models had the longest production lives (you may be surprised!).

If you would like to see the data from which these charts were created (including some production numbers etc.) then look at the Maserati production history page:

The whole marque history

There's not enough room on this chart to include all the model names - they appear in the same sequence as the subsidiary charts below so you can work out which models the gaps relate to!

Prewar Sports and Racing Cars

NB This chart includes those models (eg; the 4CLT/48) which were "carry-overs" from the pre-war period.

Post war Sports and Racing cars

This chart cover what many think of as the zenith of Maserati's sporting history with the 250F Grand Prix cars, the 200S through 450S sports racers and the fabulous Birdcages.

Post 1960 Maserati Road cars

Covering the heyday of Maserati road car production with cars using the straight 6 and then the legendary V8 through to the Citroen era V6 Merak.

Biturbo era cars

This chart brings us up to date from the first 2.0 litre Biturbo models to the very latest Quattroporte and soon to be released V8 Quattroporte.
